Design, construction and commissioning
The town of Ekerem is situated in Turkmenistan on the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea. In order to improve the drinking water supply, the state-owned oil company "Turkmenneft" awarded PWT the contract to build a turnkey sea water desalination plant with reverse osmosis, disinfection plant and pumping stations.
PWT Solution
Reverse osmosis, disinfection plant and pumping stations convey and prepare a net permeate capacity of 5,000 m³/d and thus secure the drinking water supply for approx. 20,000 inhabitants on a total area of approx. 3,000 km². The equipment of the plant was mostly prefabricated in Germany. After assembly on site and commissioning, PWT operated the plant and trained the Turkmenian operational staff. After 12 months, the plant was handed over to the local operator.
The project includes:
- Guaranteed drinking water supply for more than 20,000 inhabitants
- 1 pumping station with 2 pumping units to supply the existing water distribution stations in the cities of Ekerem and Esenguly
- Operational management of the entire plant
- Water quality according to GOST 2874-82
