PWT was awarded in a public tender the contract supply, erection and commissioning of the mechanical and electrical equipment of the irrigation system in part of the vineyards and gardens above Zwingenberg.
The technical requirements for the irrigation of the vineyard and garden areas have already been implemented. A multistage centrifugal pump in the technology building ensures that the spring water is later pumped to a higher reservoir. From there, the water is conducted to the vineyard and garden areas through a network of pipes that has already been laid. The irrigation can then be controlled remotely by the operators themselves via automated solenoid valves.
At present, a radio based SCADA system is being implemented for data transmission and measurement of a weather station with soil moisture sensors as well as other necessary measurement technology.
