Construction of a wastewater treatment plant with sea outfall in Himara, Albania

Albanian Development Fund (ADF) has awarded to PWT a new project in Himara in May 2022 that is financed by KfW Development Bank. We are planning and constructing a waste water treatment plant and sewage system with sea outfall for 16,000 people in the south of Albania. The works started in July 2022! We have been working on this project for already two years now and we are proud to present the advancement with a video.

The scope of the Project:

Rehabilitation and expansion of the sewage system in Himara

Himara's sewage system consists of a 15 km sewer network and eight pump stations.

Construction of a waste water treatment plant for Himara

The construction work will initially cover up to 16,000 inhabitants. The treatment plant has an activated sludge process with solar drying system and a biological odor treatment system.

Construction of a sea outfalls in Himara and in Orikum

The Himara and Orikum waste water treatment plants discharge cleaned water into the sea. In the case of Himara, the resulting sea outfall is about 250 meters long, in Orikum the length is 650 meters.
